I am going to buy a new Triumph maybe in Feburary. I have reseached both bikes and now just need to make up my mind.
I'm going to post this in the Daytona forum also.
I missed the Triumph Tour Truck last weekend in Seattle because I was at a bike rally in southern oregon.
What are your thoughts ?
I'm wanting to wait till the 2007's come out.
Thanks for the help.

G'day from Sydney / OZ.
Can only comment on the pre 2005 models - but I think it comes down to comfort with grunt or grunt without much comfort.
My ST 2002 did not go as hard as my mates Daytona ( same year model) but was not that far behind either - his was no where near as comfortable on a long ride - guess it's down to your useage..

Mate I am lucky enough to own a T595 Daytona and a 05 Sprint. They are very different bikes and it depends on your needs. The Daytona is great for a short blast into town or quick ride up our east coast road. The Sprint is really great for touring with the minister for war and finance on the back. I have done stacks to both bikes to suit my style of riding. I find the Sprint will do it all and is a great bike to take for a quick fang. If I had to choose which one I'd keep it would be the Sprint. Hope this helps? and enjoy your riding no matter which bike you get.

FWIW, you might want to check insurance on the two. My quotes (three different companies) were, on average, FOUR or FIVE TIMES HIGHER for the Daytona than for the Sprint. And I'm an old fart with a clean record.
That pretty well erased the Daytona from consideration.

num1husker,
although I have never owned a Daytona 955i I would second Tankmans views.
My last bike was a GSX R600, I really loved that bike it was a real blast, a hoot to ride fast. I had it for 4 & 1/2 years.
But it was also exhaustingly hard work, to ride real quick, and it was not comfortable on longish rides.
I imagine the Daytona would be much easier to ride than a Gixxer 600 & the riding position would not be as cramped. But it is still a full on Sports bike and is not really designed for long distance or comuting type riding.
I would love to be like Tankman and own both. But like him also if I had to choose between the two, I'd plump for the Sprint being a more comfortable general purpose machine capable of hauling ass and hooning in the twisties as well.

num1husker, that's the one of the reasons that I chose my RS.
A bit in between with regards to the touring set (no offence intended to the touring set) and satiates the boy racer that lies dormant until I get within 10 metres of the bike.
Plenty of zoom with the comfort factor (I'm tall and lanky). Minimalist bits and bobs - which suits me just fine. and still very capable for two up for longer distances and even in the faster twisties.
A great compromise IMO. The only problem is that you can't get them new anymore. Not here anyway.

I`ve ridden one of the latest 955 Daytonas and I really like it. It`s noticeably faster and handles much better than the ST. Since my wife has started riding and got her own bike, I`m beginning to wonder if I really need the Sprint anymore. I think I`m probably much too fond of it to trade it in for a Daytona, but if something happened to it, crash, theft etc. I`d probably get a Daytona before one of the latest model ST`s.

I own an 05 Sprint. I rode 772 miles this weekend (just two days), a mix of twisties (Deal's Gap), sweepers, and slab. I brought along with me clothes for three days (didn't need all of them), a sleeping hammock, sleeping bag, and some food. I have just recently gotten a custom seat made, and now I am really "won over" by the bike. It was phenomenal at Deal's Gap, performing effortlessly, and then I slabbed it home in nearly record time. The bike simply PERFORMS now, no matter what task I ask it to do.

I ride with a guy that has a 2003 955, technically his bikes is faster since it has a higher power to weight ratio. However, I still usually have to hold back on when riding due to the fact that his skills are less than my own. In the end it is the rider not the bike that matters.
