Apologies to anyone who reads the Biker's Oracle Sprint ST board...

Am I the only one who can't understand why they made it so hard to get the seat off and on with the rear bolts? I've taken mine off and can't see how (or why) to ever put those rear bolts back in again (except to prevent theft as it's easy to get to the battery)
Considering this is supposed to be a Touring bike the could have made this a bit easier... am I missing something here?

Also - I am fitting an Oxford humpback tailbag and panniers... has anyone else had any issues with the heat of the exhaust and the straps for the tailpack that you are supposted to run under the seat (so the bag doesn't come off)...

I guess I will find out this weekend...

Other than this (and the usual heat issue in slow traffic) I think it's a great bike. Just got R&G bobbins and a Powerbronze hugger so we're all kitted out....

I never put the screws back on the seat. Stays in place just fine. Very easy to take the seat off now :hammer:

I'm definately with you on this one.

IMHO Triumph has really missed a great opportunity with this bike. The base motorcycle is fantastic. Some more attention to detail would go a long way.

A bike that can be weekend toy, everyday transport and long distance tourer is easily achievable with this platform. Decent luggage and a few more options with some other inclusions as standard would be a big improvement.

But as they are selling everyone they make so far, why should they bother?

Brett.

The seat attachment method is a really poor design. One solution is to replace the stock seat with a Corbin Gunfighter, which comes on/off with the twist of a key. Plus, it's more comfortable than the stock seat. The downside is that it requires removal of the rear grab bar, which happens to be one of the attachment points for the OEM Triumph side bags.

The Corbin Gunfighter & Lady (two seater) version retains the grab handle and still uses a keyed release.

I was just on their site todaylooking to order. I think they must have had another price increase recently? It's now $399 for the seat and $239 for the optional backrest. I thought that just a couple weeks ago when I first looked it was $359 and $219?

Anyway, here is the Corbin Link

I could not agree more. Funny thing is that I just saw that my dealer have a bracket which makes it a bit easier to remove the seat.

-> buddyslot

If you send them an email they might be able to help you find a dealer near you.

Must agree this is a design fault, but as triumphite says there is no need to put the screws back in the, I have left the screws out now for over a year with no problems.

Ditto here. In fact, the Dealer left the seat unscrewed (just screwed the retaining bolts into their place without the seat), and asked me if I wanted it left that way. I said sure, why not?

The seat is not noticably loose, so unless someone is really interested in getting to the battery, I doubt'll be noticable.

Now if Sargent ever get's off their bum and makes a seat for the new Sprint, I may have to reconcider (expensive seat to lose). :hammer:

The screws will not be going back on.. don't think I could put them back if I tried, anyway. Out of interest, has anyone else had issues with running pannier straps under the seat (due to the exhaust, etc)? seems to fit okay. And are there any other bungie points to use besides the passenger footpegs? I have to say, for a bike that is supposed to be a tourer, trying to fit the tailpack and panniers is pretty awkward. Another rear bungie point would have been really useful...
