Thanks to this site I was able to check for recalls, and sure enough, fuel sender showed up for my model year. I rode the thing like a proper Brit bike through the rain to MCC in Villa Park, IL to have the service completed. They seem like OK sorts, but there aren't too many Triumphs there. A Speed Triple and Speed Four, and a couple of the cruiser style bikes. Also read whatever feedback I could find on MCC, and it all seemed good so I'm expecting things to go well there. They were the original selling dealer of the bike which I picked up at another dealer who buys and sells used bikes.

As for the coolant leak, it shows up on the swing arm and passenger peg mount left side, right under the overflow tank. I took the seat cowl off and poked around, and all the hose connections seemed ok, however the cap may not have been seated properly. After reinstalling the cap as well as it seemed to go on, I still had some leaking, which lately seems to have stopped. Maybe over-filled and pissing out pass the seal of the cap and tank? Fluid level is at top mark even when the bike is cold.

So far, I still have a lot of love for this bike...but it's the first bike I've ever owned that developed these kinds of troubles. What was impressive (and kinda stupid) was leaking gas and all, I rode it through the rain to the dealer, about a 20 minute ride ( I know some of you would like a dealer that close...), and the I was very impressed with the protection from the elements. With my full face lid, and the Touring Screen, vision was good, and the body work does a fine job keeping the crud at bay. Sweet. Mind you, my other bike is Valkyrie Interstate which is a fine foul weather ride as well, so the Sprint's nature in the rain was a pleasant surprise.

Thanks again to everyone who contributes here, I've really used the info I've gotten.

Steve

I've just been going through service issues myself and every minute on the bike since it's been fixed is making all of the bad memories fade away.

As for the coolant leak, as I've just learned, when the bike is cold the coolant level in the overflow tank should be at the lower mark. When the bike heats up and the coolant in the radiator expands it goes into the overflow tank. If the level is too high when the coolant expands it will just vent out of the overflow tank onto the ground (or bike...). See my discussion on Checking for Coolant Leak for more details of how the system works.

A 20 minute ride would be a welcomed ride for a dealer. Mine is 1.5 hours away! A great ride though!

Good luck

THe coolent should be at the lower mark or as many have found will piddle out.

The luck of the draw for me. My dealer is about two moles away and since I live on a hill I can almost coast there. But have had no issues to take to him.
