I just bought a 2001 Sprint ST in pretty much like new condition with only 4800 miles. When I got it home, I used some spray cleaner/polish to get the bugs off and put a nice sheen on it. In polishing it noticed that the paint on the upper facing painted surfaces felt a little bit rough when rubbed with the cloth, while the painted surfaces that face the sides and toward the bottom are smooth as glass. Is the slight roughness from sun exposure? Anyone have that issue? Can it simply be buffed out? It's no big deal, but the bike is so clean, I'm not sure if that is just something with Triumph's brand of paint, or actual wear and tear.

Help! Thanks

Kevin

I get that on my bike too. But for me it is the bug or tree goop that drips from the trees. Washes off very easily. Yours could be different; I have heard of similar paint damage due to exposure.

Rash--I didn't think of that. I bet you're right, since the paint is still really shiny. I'll have to get something to get it off. Maybe bug & tar remover.

Use a cleaner wax to bring the shine to its fullest, I recommend a product called "Zymol". You can pick it up at Autozone and many other auto parts stores.

Zymol did it in no time. Paint is slick as glass now. Thanks all.
