I have a 01 Sprint and around 75 mph there is a buzz in the bars.I can't ride 40 miles without my hands getting numb. I have the standard grips on there that came stock, but i am wanting to get foam grips. I have heated grips so i dont know if that will work. Would i have to disconnect the heated grips somewhere? Because the wrap has stuck to the inside of the grip. Has anybody had this problem? The tires i have now are 5500 miles old and i have new avons i am putting on this weekend. Hopefully that will fix the buzz If not i thought of putting a couple of rubber o-rings under each handlebar where they mount to the triple tree. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated . I am taking trip up to North Carolina to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Deals Gap etc.. So i need to get this problem fixed as soon as possible.

I've heard of a few different remedies, but none that I have personal experience with (someone else might be able to elaborate):

1. Gel grips; but you might have a problem with your heated grips.

2. Bar-end weights. TwistedThrottle.com has a few options here, though I've heard of others. This is probably your best bet.

3. Sand or buckshot poured inside your clip-ons. Might be more of an urban legend, than not. :???:

Personally, I just use my Throttlemeister to give my hands a rest, periodically. That seems to work for me, at least.

Sometimes the buzz is caused by a loose chain. Often through the footpegs, sometimes through the handle bars (being an extremity).

Worth a look :???:

It sounds like a problem that is being caused by something not being as it should.

What is the condition of the headstock bearings and the front and rear wheel bearings?

Has the bike ever been dropped?

Are the chain and sprockets all good?

Hope you get it sorted.

Brett.

The bike only has 5500 miles on it . So i would guess that the bearings would be in good shape. Yes i did drop at about 20 mph enough to bend the left clip on. I heated it up and straightened it out, but it did it before i laid it down. I read that some guys have had that a similar problem with the sorry ass bridgestones cupping causing a buzz but we will see. I am in florida so i really dont need the heated grips so maybe i can disconnect them somewhere?>

triumphstluster,
I would also check the bar end weights are not loose. The purpose of these weights is to reduce or minimise bar vibes. If they have been replaced with something lighter than standard or are loose you will get handlebar vibrations.

Something else you could check anyway.

Good luck I hope you figuire it out.

It's a pretty expensive solution, but Heli-bars reduce almost all of the vibes in the bars. I think it's because they're a tubular bar as opposed to the solid aluminum stockers. The extra adjustments are the big plus. In my opinion they're the best thing I've done to improve my bike.

Can we assume you keep the tires at a proper pressure?

are you the original owner? check the sprockets, if teh previuos dropped the gearing the vibes will be harder now.

75 is about where I get my first onset with a 18 T but its tolerable.

when I had tubular bars I used a bar snake on my last bike and it almost eliminated all vibes.
