ST gas tank?????????

I got a gas tank off eBay, for my 03' ST, looks just like the old one, had It painted, went to put it on and it would not fit.
It would not fit over the air box. Is this tank for the carb bikes?

The tank for the 99-01 bikes is different than the '02 - '04 versions. The newer ones hold 1/2 gallon less fuel and were redesigned for the updated 955i engines in '02.

The 2002 on petrol tanks are a different size to the earlier ones. The airbox on the '02 on models is larger so Triumph had to modify the tank to allow it to fit.
