Already searched with no luck...

Does anyone have the LSL Sliders installed on a RS? All I can find is info on installing on the ST. I bought a pair, and verified that I have the correct model (by calling Speigler) but unless I'm just having a really bad day, things just aren't adding up. On the left side of the bike, a radiator hose is in the way of where it looks like the bolt should go, and I just can't see how the sliders would fit without some type of mod to the bike.

The scariest part of the install sheet is this:
For the model "RS" the fairing parts has to be cutted on both sides!

Yes, that's typed exactly how it's written. It's in bold also. I'm guessing that means the fairing has to be cut?

I don't recall hearing anything about that when I placed the order on the phone.

So, if anyone out there has actually installed the LSL sliders on a Sprint RS, please speak up. I'd be very curious to hear how easy the install was (or not!).

Thanks very much.
James

check my piccys. Mounting should be the same.
I remember rotating the 'ear' around several times to make sure it clears everything. It's position on the frame dictates where the stalk will wind up.

Hope this helps!
**edit**
yes, you will have to cut into the fairing. I would use an abrasive wheel on a dremel tool, instead of a roto-zip type of cutter. Should give you more control.

I had the same issue on my bike.

I ended up rotating the left side mount so that it exits under the radiator hose. Had to cut a complete hole out of the left side fairing, while the right side was just a notching of the fairing.

I also had to trim the mounting tab on the right side mount.

I can send you some pics if you like

I have the LSL sliders on my '04 RS. The cutting of the fairings is just a semi-circular notch at the top edge on both sides. On the left side, the coolant hose passes over the top of the slider. Once I figure out how to insert pictures, I'll post them.

After reading the earlier post about the length of the LSL stem bolts I took one of mine off to see how far the threads engage the mounting pad. They engage maybe 3/8 inch, I don't know why I didn't pick up on that when I installed them. Anyway, I called Spiegler USA, the supplied bolts are the only ones they offer 10-1.25 X 130mm (I think it is 130mm, I haven't measured it) it really needs about 145mm to have enough threads exposed to engage the entire thickness of the mounting pad. The guy at Speigler (not Mathias) said they have never had a problem. We know that isn't true.
Anyone tried to find a 10-1.25 X 150mm allen head socket stainless steel bolt in the US? I spent 4 hours yesterday and the closest I could find was a titanium hex flange that MAY work at $28.00 EACH! Maybe people in Europe can find a mail order source for stainless steel 10-1.25 X 150mm allen socket head cap screws?
