I purchased bar sliders, fork sliders, and frame sliders/crash protectors for my 2005 Sprint ST from R & G Racing a couple of weeks ago (http://www.rg-racing.com/), and they arrived yesterday. They were a little expensive, but they seem to be very good quality. And they have a wealth of information on their web site, too.

I put on the bar sliders and fork sliders this morning -- piece of cake. I plan on installing the frame sliders this weekend (a little more work since you have to remove the fairing and engine bolts). But I need a couple of questions answered before I start:

1) The rear engine bolts are "regular" bolts, I'm guessing 17 or 19mm, so no problems there. But the front engine bolts have a torx head. Does anyone know the size? I have some torx bits, but not that big. So I'm going to need to make a run to the hardware store.

2) Does anyone know to what torque I should tighten the engine bolts? I don't want to guess, and strip them or have them come loose.

Thanks for any input,
Bill

Confirmed. The front engine mounting bolts are T55.

I'm about to do the same install on my '05 ST. Be sure to put a good lubricant on the bolts and threads to ensure they dont corrode or seize. Something like Never Seize or a quality copper grease or similar.

Cheers,
Brett.

I asked about that torque setting when I put my R&Gs on...no one ever got back so I just made them tight.

You can ask MCH what I mean by tight. lol.

DragonDan is correct: T-55 for the front mounts. The R&G Racing sliders replace the stock ones (front and upper rear) with a 10 mm Allen-type cap head bolt.

In terms of torque, all engine bolts are the same: 80 n-m, per the ’05 Sprint ST Service Manual. Thanks goes to Dan, the Service Manager at Phoenix International Motorsports, for helping me out with the info. :upthumb:
