Who's all going this summer, and where are you staying? The host hotel (The New Grand) has been booked solid for a month already. I'm looking around in Nelson, somewhere downtown. Recommendations?

Regards,

Here are 2 that I know about. The Hume Hotel is 1 block away and has character but doesn't have air conditioning which means with the windows open you can hear street noise. Not a problem if you are part of the noise but if you are trying to sleep... The Best Western is something like 6 blocks or so away (within walking distance anyway), is clean, modern, has air but no character. It cost a little more too.

I'm staying at the Best Western as I did last year. I decided a good nights sleep was more important than being close to the New Grand.

I tried getting a room at the New Grand over three months ago and was told they were sold out. Apparently they were booked up after last years RAT Raid by people who attended last years event. I registered at the Hume and I'm hoping the noise won't be too bad! :???:

Thanks for the tip. Also found this on the Hume Hotel website:

Particularly on weekends, rooms may be subject to noise due to traffic and late-night socializers.
Booked my rooms for the weekend at the Best Western.

See you there!

Regards,

I'm told we need to register to attend. How does one go about doing that?

Just curious, The Great Smoky Mountain Raid had a Smokey Mountain/Tail of the Dragon theme about it. The Ohio Mini Raid has a Vintage theme about it. The Gettysburg Raid has a Civil War them to it. And I mean no disrespect but I've never been to B.C. and I am wonder what that area has to offer. I'm sure good roads and possibly a moose or two, but what says, Kootenay????

I'm planning on going this year too. I booked a room at the Hume. I figured worst case I could always wear ear plugs.
