Been lurking for a bit and figured I would say Hi since I will probably be hanging out for a while. I took an 06 Sprint out the other day on a test ride. Well...I'm hooked and am going to put a down payment on an 06 in aluminum silver tomorrow! Though it's not the monster that my 04 R1 was, I think I will enjoy this bike much more. It has more down low usable in the real world power, with a very linear power delivery. Plus the comfort level is much better than the R1, while handling is still outstanding.

Anyhow...looking forward to hanging out and maybe even chiming in from time to time if I happen to come up with something of worth to say. Looks like a great site with lots of good info on the bike!

Jim

Welcome aftrplst (what does that stand for ????)

I got my 05/06 in Dec (a week before Xmas :-) ), and get my 10,000km service on Wed. Overall a great bike. I enjoy the commute just puddling along or a backroads blast for hours on end. The Sprint can do it all.

There's plenty of folk from all over the US here as well as us upside-downers and the upper crust from the UK. Heaps of knowledge that people are willing to share so have fun. Hope the delivery delay isn't too long.

Welcome to the site, Jim. Good decision on the Sprint, too! There are some good folks here and some good information also.

Welcome aboard Jim, keep us posted as to how your Sprint stacks up against that R1?

Thanks to all for the welcome. Just got back from putting a down payment on one. The dealer should be putting the hard bags and grip warmers on it this week and I should be picking it up next Sat!!

Russ, I couldn't come up with anything catchy when I was choosing my ID so this is what it stands for:

AF - Air Force - been in for 17yrs now
TRPL - for the outstanding engine in the Sprint
ST - Sport Tour

Once I put some miles on the bike and get a true feel for it I will try to do a comparison with the 04R1 for you guys.

Later, I'm off to go have a few :-g

Fair enough :-) It's unique and you won't forget it.

welcome from NZ too.

Remember to go back to your profile and put in your new bike - its like a badge of honour.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with your description of the bike.

It keeps getting better - so you've got that to look foward to.
