Apologies if this glitch has already been highlighted, but it's been a while since I last frequented the site . . .

Three times recently I have found myself stranded miles fom home with a bike that steadfastly refused to start.

All the electrics appeared to be in order, but hit the starter button and . . . nothing. Not even an apologetic click or half-hearted attempt at turning over.

Problems with alarm/immobiliser? Nope.
Problems with battery? Nope.

Turns out the clutch switch had simply given up the ghost and needed replacing.

My dealer said it has emerged as a fairly common problem on the '05 model and he has already replaced quite a few clutch switches for other customers.

That's it really, just to let you know! :-D

Anyway, how've you all been doing? Keeping well?

I had this problem on my 05 Sprint. It never let me completely stranded, once I figured out that if I turned the handlebars all the way to the right and back to center, it would start. The problem was only when I engaged the parking lock while parking.

Ended up replacing the whole wiring harness a couple of weeks ago that includes the clutch safety sensor and the horn and turn signal bar assembly. Seems to have cured the problem. Still not sure exactly where the problem was though, just somewhere in that wiring harness or the switch itself.
