Hi Guys,
Please be on the lookout for a red Sprint ST 2000 (not 1999) stolen from the Sharon area of Charlotte NC last night/this morning.
I will supply all numbers I can get a hold of. Any leads would be great. I expect this machine has been or is about to be stripped so anything you see on Ebay etc please let me know, the buddy of mine who owns/ed it is gutted and has just discovered that his insurance was void so he'll get nothing. If you are the people responsible, you have not stolen a machine from someone who can just claim for it and replace it, this put everything he had into this bike and is devastated and will be making payments on a bike he no longer has so do the right thing and return it to him, surprise us all and do that, even if you remove parts just give him back the rest at least he'll have the chance to rebuild.
More details to follow.
Thank you to all in advance
Nic

Man, that sucks. I do a lot of riding on the north side of Charlotte and I'll keep a look out for it.

That really sucks. I guess we all should double check to make sure insurance is up and up.

Sorry to hear about your friends bike, but i can't believe he let his insurance lapse, especially if he was still making payments on it! What would he have done if he'd had an accident and worse yet the other person didn't have insurance? If it was his fault he could have lost everything including his house. Hard way to go any way you cut it!

A big THANK YOU to all who have replied so far and to everyone keeping an eye out for this bike, the owner Phil, is one very sad puppy right now. We are in the process of faxing every dealership in the country with the following description. If you get a sniff of this bike, even if you only heard it second hand PLEASE let us know. The fax to the dealers is as follows;
STOLEN BIKE
To All Triumph Dealers 04-28-05
As per our phone call today, please be on the lookout for the following bike which was stolen from a South Charlotte apartment complex late last night/early this morning.
2000 Sprint ST Red
• The bike is mostly stock except for a Helibar (bar riser kit) and the belly pan is missing.
• There is a deep scratch on the grab rail.
• The tires were both new.
• The Center of the upper fairing is a darker shade of red than the rest of the fairing.
• It had been down on the left hand side and some of the fairings and the front fender have been repaired.
• The screws that secure the screen are not standard and are mismatched, some are countersunk cross head and some are slot head.
• The right handlebar grip end is all torn up.
• The frames finish is part way through being modified.
The VIN (Frame) number is SMT600FM8YJ098206
The owners name is Philip Stocker and can be reached during the day at 704 523-3548, Cell 704 200 4997 or you may contact me in the evening on 704 391-0394.
On contacting the insurance company it turns out that unbeknown to Mr. Stocker his policy had been cancelled and he will not be paid out for his loss so we are very very anxious to retrieve his bike. Needles to say he is gutted to have lost his ride and would appreciate very much any help you can give. The theft has been reported to the Mecklenburg Sheriff’s dept here in Charlotte who may also be contacted.
If you need any further info please don’t hesitate to call either number. If for any reason both Philip and I are both out during the day just say to whom ever answers the phone that it’s regarding the stolen bike and we will be contacted.
Many thanks in advance for all your help with this.
Nicholas Cox
Keep em pealed (eyes that is)
Thanks Guys
Nic

Just to put those of yours minds at rest regarding the insurance side of this tale (much assuming going on here) the bike was not being ridden due to the body work being worked on (hence the missing belly pan) but even so the policy still had 3 months to run according to the paperwork but apparently there was a problem with a payment that no one told the owner about so they just went ahead and canceled - nice!! It's great to see things in hind sight or without knowing the full story so I thought I'd just get that straight so I can keep the focus on trying to find the bike.
Cheers then

Any insurance policy I've ever seen has a grace period with it and I think they have to notify you in writing that your policy is going to cancel on a certain date if you miss or are late with a payment. I think it's a matter of the insurance regulations in each state and depending on the issue(s) and the regulations your friend may want to see if he has any recourse against the insurance company. If they violated your state's insurance regs you can file a complaint with the State Insurance Commissioner's office.
