Just got a new 675 and the front brakes have gone spongy after less than 1000 miles. I heard that the 05 Sprint had similar problems. Any ideas how to fix it?

Sorry to hear you've got the same problem with the 675.

See my recent post on sprint brakes.
Me thinks Triumph must be doing something wrong with the brake systems somewhere alone the line as other bikes using Nissin brakes don't suffer this problem.
Just hope I can find out the fix soon.

Have a look through this topic. I've written down the steps to clean up and remove the sponginess. It lasts about 2600-3000Km.

Yeah, wot Russ said.

My mech advised me to use a cable tie to pull the lever back, with bars on full left lock and on the sidestand. Overnight, once a month. Seems to help.

btw, the calipers on the Sprint ST made by Nissin.

for a discussion covering most of the 'fixes' for the ST 1050. The one that seems to be tried and tested is to remove the calipers, push the pistons in, ease them back out and grease the pistons and rubber boots. The theory is that the rubber boots are pulling the pistons away from the disc when the brakes are off hence the system has to take up some 'slack' to get the pads back against the discs before any braking starts. :???:

It isn't limited to the 2005 and newer models. The only way I have been able to temporarily fix mine is to remove the calipers, extend the pistons, clean them up with contact brake cleaner and replace. They feel great for about 1500 miles. I'm looking for some high temperature grease for a longer lasting fix. Anyone knowing of such grease please feel free to reply.

some stuff that i found while thinking this same problem over.

also i bought at my local advance auto parts store some permatex brand grease. they call it ultra disc barke caliper lube. says you can put it on the pistons as well as everything else down there.
