Does anyone here have a D&D slip-on installed on their 955i? If so, is it completely obnoxious or does it sound nice?

15yrs ago, I had a D&D on my FZR600 and it was the loudest pipe I've ever owned. I was young and stupid back at the time, so I didn't really care. However, I recently saw a FZ1 with a D&D can and it wasn't very loud at all...just had a nice, throaty growl. Makes me wonder if they just sound better on larger displacement bikes or if they've altered their designs.

I have a new Two Brothers slip-on out in the garage waiting to be installed on my '04 ST (along with a bunch of other stuff), but I'd be happy to send it back and get the D&D if it's not going to wake the neighbors when I crank it up early in the morning or give me headache on long rides. I've got a Tuneboy, so mapping isn't an issue.

Thanks for any info.

DFWBiker,
wht does the D&D stand for, I have not ever heard of this brand. I am curious about your Two Brothers can.

I had a good mate with them on his VTR 1000, the Two Brothers were seriously loud on that bike. In fact they were so loud that I could hardly think when following him on my Gixxer until I fitted a Kerker can that was just as loud  .

Cheers,
Davem

I`d go for the one that gives the best HP increase, although I guess all we have to go by is the manufacturers claims. If you just want to be loud, you can save yourself a couple of hundred bucks by taking the can off and riding without it.

Here is the website for D&D: D&D Exhaust

They are a fairly well known company in the US and their headquarters is a few miles from my house.

The Two Brothers pipe on my neighbor's 955i Daytona is barely louder than stock, but it has a much richer, deeper tone. That's all I care about.

I don't want loud and I don't care about horsepower. I just want better quality sounds.

My friend and I both have D&D's but they sound quite a bit different. Mine has a slightly lower pitch, but not as low as I'd like. I think a Two Brothers can is what I might try next. Micron is making some real cool MotoGP-looking exhausts for most of the Jap bikes...don't know if any would work on the Sprint. The current trend seems to be toward "mass centralization"...keeping the exhaust down low & as forward as possible. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Elvis Jr. over @ North Dallas BMW/Triumph/Ducati told me that D&D stands for "Deaf & Dumb".

Yep...Deaf & Dumb definitely describes the can on my old FZR. I loved it when I was 18, but now I think they sound like complete ***** on 600's. I also loved the fact that all the D&D cans have the Texas flag on them...which is a big reason why I had hoped to find out they didn't sound too bad on a 955.

However, after thinking about it for a day or so, I think I'll just stick with my Two Brothers pipe. I know what it sounds like and it looks nice too. It's a standard mount, round carbon fiber slip-on. I don't think I'll gain any power, but I will lose quite a bit of weight compared to the factory can.

Deaf & Deafer is what I akways heard them called.

If I need to replace mine, I will go with a Staintune.

I have the Two Bro's pipe on my RS. I love it! Very deep tone, High quality (much better than D&D IMHO) and you can get a repacking kit for $20.00 from Two Bro's.

That being said I just picked up a Jardine High mount from Dennis Kirk today. (I'm a sucker for a deal!) $133.00 OTD and free shipping! If anyone is interested they still have a Carbon one for an RS (low Mount) for $209.00 I think. Free shipping on all sales over $100.00 too.

I got the installation and re-mapping completed this morning. The pipe sounds great. Idles just as quiet as the stock pipe, but much deeper tone. Under 5k, I can't even hear it when I'm riding.

Over 5k, it growls nice and deep without being obnoxious at all. Great pipe and it saved a LOT of weight over that anchor they installed in Hinckley.
