Hello people,

This is my first forum posting - I just found it. Greetings.

I've had a 2006 Sprint ST for coming up to a month now. So far I am very happy with it, except for the high beam headlight - it's almost useless! I've tried readjusting the beam aim, but I'm not able to improve on it much.

The dipped beams seem OK.

Anyone else with similar problems? Any suggested fixes?

not sure about the 06, but lots of us have put another relay into our bikes to have both headlights on with either high or low beam
If yours is the same you'll find it a cheap fix.
Some members replace their globes too.

Yes, you're correct, the high beam is practically useless. There are a few replacement bulbs that people are trying (a search here will help) but frankly I'm afraid I'll melt the fairing with a brighter bulb. I'm waiting for some long-term approval from some of the more adventurous here. I do very little night riding, partially because of the dismal quality of the high beam.

Thanks for the feedback SR1 and yes I'm reluctant to change to higher wattage bulbs. My high beam seems to project a little circular spot which is nowhere nearly as bright as the dipped beams.

Perhaps it's a design flaw?

Yep, the high beam is pretty poor in comparision to the low beams. Projector beams are cool looking but IMHO they are better suited to cars than bikes. Their ability to focus a beam so tightly doesn't work very well on a bike unless you are on a flat straight road.

My Concours doesn't put out as much light but it's much more useable at night in the twisties.

I'm considering adding cornering lights to the Sprint.

The lights mention here started by Stlakid ar the same wattage as stock.
So no problem on the wireing or plastic. It look like a brighter cleaner light.

I really wish it (the light pattern) weren't so "smiley faced." It's fine for straight driving but in a lean you can't see much of the road.

Just as a clarification for the pre 05 riders, when the 05- has its brights on all 3 lights are on, I find that the high beam just fills in the gap in the center of the road a bit better, lights up signs a bit farther away and keeps the light more on the road in the corners. I think the lights are just fine, having retina melting low beams kind of over powers the high beam. I get brighted all the time using my low beams. I like the light, I do agree that a light on the forks would be awesome for doing corners to have the light shine around the corner.

Just another opinion.
