G'day all,
Ordered my brand spanker silver '06 last week, trading in the Tuono for the newie this Saturday, can't wait.
Speccied the sports exhaust and heated grips, any other goodies worth having or not worth worrying about? Which luggage is the best, original Triumph, hard or soft, aftermarket?
Anything else I should know about the new steed?
Thanks in advance, look forward to joining the party!

Welcome to the fraternity!

You'e made a good choice - the riding position is gt for touring or sport, the motor is stonking and the looks are magic....

I bought the skyking frame sliders from skyking in the US for $US130 (about AUS$180 landed etc).

I have the ventura rack/bag combo but if you get the panniers you don't need this.

The heated grips are great.

I found the Sprint riding position a bit sporty after my TDM900, but have now got used to it and don't think bar risers are needed.

You'll probably get heaps of replies on all sorts of things (whether you want ed to know or not) :-)

But there's a lot of knowledge here and people are willing to share. Also a good mix of Aussies - shame most of us are too far apart for our oown RAT Ride.

hey Grrnt,

whats the name about?

Great choice of bike - you will be happy - it is an excellent all rounder and a pleasure to own.

I've got the ventura pack, power bronze hugger, and some clear tank protector film.

It's a great machine - a very strong and willing motor, great sound and looks, comfortable, and it handles well too.

It keeps getting better - so use it plenty.

cheers - Grant

Mate welcome to the clan, this a list of what I put on my Sprint.

Sports exhaust (Triumph)
Gel seat (Triumph)
Risers (Gen Mar)
Rear axle and nut cover (Black) (Triumph)
Panniers, and color panels. (Triumph) (Will not fit a full face helmet)
Pannier liners (Triumph)
Givi top box and rack, (Givi) (Triumph top box wont fit 2 helmets)
Front guard extender (Triumph)
Triumph tank bag and tank cover (Triumph)
Chatter box intercom
Tidy tail (through Aust motorcycle components)
Touring Screen (Triumph)
Heated hand grips (Triumph)
Ventura skin protection
Mate it all sounds like a lot of money and it is, but we all like to set our bikes up differently.

I intend to fit a Scotoiler, a oil cooler and radiator guard, and instead of buying the Triumph color matched mirrors ($525) I am going to get the paint code take them to a spray painter and get them painted for about $60.

Well thats about all, can't fit another thing in

Cheers and happy sprinting
The Tankman

Welcome Grrnt,

Jeesh, you guys from the land of the inverse gravitational pull are getting close to outnumbering us guys :-D . Pretty soon I suppose one of you will come up with a way to mount a barby on the back of a Sprint

Where'd you get the oil cooler and radiator protector from?

Thanks guys! Definately some food for thought. I especially like the idea of spray painting the mirrors rather than lashing out $500 on trumpy ones. Rad and oil cooler guards sound like a wise investment too.

Can't wait to get the new bike. The Tuono has been good but getting a bit long in the tooth and I've been having dramas with the italian. A mate had a gentle low side and has been waiting 3 months to get it back from the shop. I've had a suspension spanner so I could adjust the preload on order for 6 months. After market goodies or upgrade bits are either impossible to get or stupidly expensive. Stories like these with Aprilias aren't uncommon. Fantastic bike but a pain in the bum. Hopefully no probs with Triumph?!

Looking forward to heated grips for sure, (although out of stock at the mo so have to wait to the first service). Rode the Tuono over M.Hotham last weekend through 4 foot of snow, nearly froze my hands off! Unbelievable ride though, looking forward to doing the rest of the snowies on the Trumpy.

As for the name, I'll post a pick of the bike and it'll reveal all!

Thanks again all.

Dolson old mate, you don't need a BBQ on the ST. A bit of your best cut of steak rapped in foil, then under the seat, 200 km later and there you are, a perfectly cooked piece of meat. Put it between 2 bits of bread and you have a beaut feed.

I am sorry mate I have made a boo boo.

The rad and oil cooler guard is the only bit of non Triumph kit,

it is made here in the land of the inverse gravitational pull by "Rad Guard"

Rad Guard website

Sorry sport, not a Triumph part. They come in anodised (silver) aluminium mine was powder coated black which renders it invisible unless you kneel down for a close look.

Check my albumI think I have pics of it.

Cheers,
Davem
