05 paint problem

I am finding that my bike cover is wearing through the paint on my 05. Granted I live in Southern Alberta Canada and it is quite windy but the cover should not wear the paint off. I am going to talk to the dealership next time I have to take it in. I don't think the paint should be that easy to rub off.

Anyone else have this problem?

too late now but you need to throw a soft blanket or comforter over before the cover. is it through all the paint or just dulling the clear? if it is just the clear you can rub it out. 3m is what i use and from a 2000 grade paper you can use the rubbing compound, then the imperial polishing pad glaze, then the imperial hand glaze to finish for the wet look. j

I just took the tank cover off my 05 today to clean it and it felt a little rough. I used a clay bar and some detailer spray and rubbed it out. Felt fine when I was done.

I wish there was a way to have a tank bag without the tank cover. I like the way the bike looks with out the tank cover.

It is very windy in the area, generally a 30km wind then on days we have 70-100km winds though the year. We just live with wind. I figured with the expensive cover that has the "soft" inside that it would be gentle on the paint, I guess I was wrong. I think I will talk to the paint shop and have them touch it up then clear coat the entire bike with something a bit tougher. At this point probably 75$ to touch up that one spot and about 200 to clear the entire bike with a few layers. I put a 3m tank protector on so that is fine, just need to save the rest.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will still talk to the dealership and see what they say about the paint, the worst thing they can say is they will not do anything, so in the same state now.
