Just installed a hugger on my ST. Didn't realize that the wheel had to be removed to orient it. Got some info about removing and reinstalling the rivets, or use plastic screws. Couldn't find black plastic screws or correct rivets. While at Lowe's an employee suggested using a "push fastener" (holds automotive molded door panels to the door). Used the "GM Push Fastener Variable Depth" type. It worked great! Can't even notice the difference and it holds firm. The manufacturer is Hillman and the item number is H# 881201.

Just curious...what kind of hugger did you get? I bought one of the Triumph huggers from a site member...didn't have to remove anything bu the chain guard (a trimmed down version came with the deal).

Same here. My carbon fiber hugger didn't require removal of the wheel either. Just take of the chainguard and bolt it on...15min job, tops.

What attachment points does your hugger use that can't be reached without removing the wheel?

Hmmm. Maybe I shoulda been more patient in the installation. I couldn't push the Triumph OEM hugger back far enough to get the chain guard attached to the hugger under rear brake hose, and I didn't want to undo the hose. And I tried several different angles and sides. I'll bet there's some way that coulda saved me a bit of time and effort installing it, huh ;-) ? Oh well, the technique I used worked for me.

I think the key here is if you have the hard bag kit installed. Getting arounf the brackets seems tobe the issue.

I'm about to install the Triumph Hugger... I shopped around, but didn;t find anythign I thought would be better and or cheaper..

offering up the new hugger/chain guard is easy schmeesy with the rear tire removed..

You can see the new hugger on the floor, waiting for me to don the nitrile gloves and get greasy....

Bingo! I didn't even want to try to remove all that. The push fasteners seem to be doing the trick. I'll see how they work in the long run. I got lucky on the hugger. Bought from a RAT forum member in Dallas. $90.00 w/ship and in excellent cond. Risers are on the way. I'll probably be back asking for easy info for install. I like this forum!
