Can anyone advise on if they prefer XM or Sirius better? I'm leaning towards XM but all inputs are welcome. Did you have to fab a mounting bracket? What model receiver did you buy and would you buy it again?

TIA,
Choop

I prefer XM, but my wife prefers Sirius. Hard to go wrong with either one, IMO. Very much a personal preference issue.

I use a MyFi unit and RAM mount on my '04 ST with the external antenna routed to the rear of the bike. I epoxied small piece of sheet metal to the luggage rack for the magnetic antenna. I also have a mounting surface on the top of my Givi box so I can mount the antenna when the box is attached. Works great for me.

Plus, since the MyFi allows you to record 5hrs of programming, you don't need to worry about the antenna if you have some of your favorite shows recorded.

most XM radios that come with car mounts have a little swivel mount with adhesive, I had mine mounted right to the top tree ( below the ignition)

I created a small antenna mount by painting a corner piece from hardware store looks like an L that has a hole in it

just mounted it to the screw hole next to idiot lights ( I'll take a picture in daylight tomorrow)

love listening to XM on the highways, can bounce from news to country to any era of rock etc

I prefer the programming on Sirius, NPR Jazz and Blues, but I'm a liberal.

Other Motorcycle: I wish
I did try this guys but I just couldn't get the bike to handle with a 10 foot satelite dish mounted on the back.

I also found it really scary in windy areas, once after breaching a crown on a ridge I ended up in a duck pond.

Guys this satelite stuff is just not worth it.

Davem :hammer: :-D :-D

Sorry boys I just can't help myself sometimes

I've asked Liz to iron the corrigibles out of Davie but she says that no matter what, he still looks pleated, even on the steam setting

Sirius comes with my TV dish at home and I can usually find something I like.

I just got a Creative Labs Zen Touch and love it. 20 gigs and a 24 hour battery and I can listen to what I want and like. I hate to be limited by someone else's programming.

I haven't tried it on the bike yet as I haven't figured out how to mount my speaker system to get that true surround sound quality.

Don

Dave: I'm surprised you ended up in the duck pond! I would have thought that with the satellite dish on your bike you would have skipped across the pond like a stone. Of course when you hit the opposite bank you would have sunk in the mud like a boat anchor. Good for the complexion I hear and cheaper than going to a spa, even if you had to replace the bike. :-D
