Ordering my new Spint friday, Should I get the optional windscreen or is the stock one good enough. Or is there a better aftermarket one. I plan some long rides this summer and comfort will be key

Buz,

Do you have any pictures with the Powerbronze screen on your bike? Thanks!

Cee Baileys also offers taller screens, and Laminar Lip has a removable product as well. What works best for you will boil down to ... height, risers or not, stock seat or aftermarket.

Lots of variables. What you want out of a screen being #1, and your height being #2.

I bought mine with the stock screen but it didn't take long for me to decide to switch to Triumphs Touring screen. I went with Triumphs screen because of a bad experance with aftermarket screens on a different bike.

The reason I switched is that at high speeds (80+) I was getting a lot of helmet lift from the windblast unless I tucked in. The touring screen eliminated this. I still get lots of windblast but it brought it up just enough to largely eliminate the lifting effect on the helmet during normal interstate speeds.

I did notice *slightly* more buffeting effect when following the wash of 18 wheelers but that is entirely normal, the larger something is the more effect wind is going to have on it.

I'm happy with the choice. YMMV.

Check out the screens from twistedthrottle.com (don't remember if address is small or large case but that should be close). I have their Touring Vario Screen made by MRA (made in Germany I think) and I love it. It has an air foil on top of it that is adjustable to 7 or 8 different positions. When all the way up it works great to take the wind off my chest and let me relax my grip, arms and shoulders. With it all the way up the wind hits at about the top of my helmet visor and I do get more wind noise, but that's what you'd expect as Windblown said due to the increased wash from any larger screen. I'm 5'10" and have Heli bars on my Sprint. When all the way down I don't think it looks too obtrusive cosmetically. I'll sacrifice a little curb appeal for dramatically improved comfort while touring. Just my opinion.

P.S. When I ordered the screen last September for my '02 Sprint ST, MRA wasn't making screens for the new '05-'06 Sprints yet. But the guy I talked to at twistedthrottle.com said that they were supposed to be coming out sometime hopefully early in '06. If I remember right, mine cost $140.00.

Suggest you try the stocker thoroughly first.

There are lot's of variables: your height, the speed you ride at, your helmet shape.

Lot of folk spend $$ on aftermarket screens without getting any advantage.

I bought the Triumph optional touring screen for my '06 without any expectations.... I am 6' tall and I catch the wind at mid helmet as opposed to the bottom of the helmet with the stock screen.......

Hmm!! I am only 5'7" & 1/2" the 1/2" is important so is there any advantage in a double bubble screen (whatever that is ) I do get a bit of wind buffeting but its not like I am 6ft tall

I'm 5'7" also and find the Triumph aero screen works well for me with no/little buffeting. I cant compare the stock one as I've never used it. I'm also running Gen-mar risers and a Corbin seat that I think lowers me "slightly".
