I am planning on taking a ride through the Ozark mountains (Arkansas) in June. Anyone done it before and have any suggestions? I am located in Dallas and planning on doing a 3-4 day trip on my RS. My brother will be riding his LT.

Hey Steven --

Just got back from winding my way through the Boston range and the Ozarks -- there are some fantastic roads through there. An old college roommate and I traveled south from Minneapolis to Memphis, then to southwest Arkansas, then worked our way back north through Arkansas, Missouri and Iowa. I'm in the process of re-creating our route map and will send it along to you if you're interested

Take out a map and look for Pig Trail (Hwy 23), Hwy 7, Fayetteville, Eureka Springs, and Mena. Include those spots in your trip and you will have plenty to go back and tell your friends about.

Hit the Talimena Skyline if you have time. It's HWY 88 in Arkansas and Turns into HWY 1 at the OK border. Nice ride.

I don't know what towns you're planning on staying in.
My favorite roads are 123 from Hagarville to Mt. Judea, especially from Lurton to Mt Judea, 374 from Mt. Judea to 7, 16 from Clinton to 7, 21 through Swain and Deer, and 27 just South of Danville.
Pedastal Rock State Park isn't on many maps but it's about 5 miles East of the 7/16 junction. A 60ft waterfall if it's been raining, views, and caves. Never very busy, and a nice 2 mile hike to break up a ride.
I strongly recommend Mario Caruso's "Arkansas Rider's Guide". $15.95 email him at guinzomoto@aol.com
Give me dates and I might meet you one day for lunch.
