I have a 2000 RS that I'm looking to sell. A friend of mine recently passed away leaving a young family that could use some money alot more than I can use a bike.

This bike is in decent shape. Minor scuffing on the left fairing. Other than that, just what you'd expect on a 6 year old bike. A Two Bros pipe. A bit under 15,000 miles. It drips just a bit of gas when parked. Probably needs a new front tire soon. Just had the 12,000 mile service. Runs great.

Blue Book is about ~ $3500 to $5000 for trade in to retail. Any thoughts on what would be a good asking price? Anyone looking for a bike in the Philadelphia, PA area?

Any info is appreciated. Thanks,
Jeremy

Are you sure it's dripping gas? Mine was dripping at one point due to excessive oiling of the chain. The lube was building up in front of the primary gear cover (with grime) and dripping a drip or two per day. Who knows, could be the cause of the drip, a gas drip doesn't sound like something a person would want to hear if they were buying it.

Its definitely gas. Not alot of it leaking, but it is gas.

I'm including that because I'm trying to be on the level. Don't want someone to feel like they're getting ripped off. I haven't had the time to take it to the shop yet, and due to the situation, I'd rather sell it for a bit less and get the money sooner.

does it always drip, or only after a full tank, I noticed mine dripped a little after a full tank and on the side stand

could be the fuel connection recall, or the nut that tightens the place where the fuel pump takes it from the tank
mine dripped and that was all it took
good luck and good thinking

If you find the right buyer (someone who is knowledgable about the RS), you should be able to get 4k or a bit more, depending on how bad the rash is and whether or not you can stop the leak. If you need to move the bike, you're probably looking at asking $4k and taking high 3s.

I own both an RS and a TT600, and I figure I'll be hanging onto both of them because resale is so low. It helps, though, that I like the bikes.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'll probably run it up to the dealer where I bought it and have them look at the leak / see if they can sell it.

I really do like the bike (its actually my second RS. had an 01 as well), but given the situation, that 3 or $4,000 is much better used to help out a friend when they need it.
