Yet another tyre thread?! Oh well couldn't resist :-D

The Michie Pilot Roads I've been running on the ST were due for replacement, and I'd been pushing the bike hard. On rough twisties at speed they felt a bit squirrely - but then that was riding right on the edge.

I needed stickier rubber with a profile better suited to sport riding. I've run Pilot Powers and liked them but only got 3,500km out of the rear. So off to the wreckers where I found a pair of the Dunlops near new.

The 208RRs are designed for track day and sport riding.

On Sunday the club went out on a 550km ride that included rough twisties, fast sweepers and some boring straights.

Woah, what a difference!

Easy turn-in, a really planted feel while heeled right over, loads of grip braking into a bend. Transformed the feel and performance of the bike.

It's too early to comment on wear rate. They have some silica in the mix of the rear so it might do better than the Pilot Power. That should help in the wet too but I've yet to test that.

No way will I go back to a sport/touring tyre.

ST-ern,
try a set of road legal race tyres.
Michelin Pilot race medium.
The only street legal race Michy in Ozz. Very fast steering and stick like glue. Don't last long though.

I do not like Bridgies or Dunlops but did you know that Dunlop are making a new sport 208?

You really should have shoved this in the tyre thread old bean. :brk:

That's why Donski the man Olson put it there

Cheers,
Dave
