need to vent, dropped my RS yesterday pulling away from a junction. Good old diesel on cobbled roads dont ya just love it
Pulled out and turned right and bike fish tailed and went down on her left side, pretty extensive damage and early reports are its a write off and spring was just around the corner :brk:

Glad you didn't get hurt. It sounds like a low speed drop. If the bodywork is the only thing damaged I'd find parts on ebay and keep it.

apart from obvious bodywork damage on left hand side, the only other damage i can see is crankcase got a fair old dunt and broke the cover. but i will have to wait to see what garage says once they given it a good going over. Cobbled streets are mighty hard !!!

Karl,

Sorry to hear about the drop. Just a reminder from other threads that a left side drop with the engine still running might allow oil that's collected in the air box (because of the breather tube) to get sucked into a cylinder and cause hydro-lock and much internal damage. Be sure to check that if you're going to invest in repairing the bike.

Sad to hear of your loss, Karl. Hope you were insured for it.

I bid farewell to my beloved RS last September when we parted ways on a sandy curve. The insurance settlement allowed me to get a very nice '04 Speed Triple. It was a tough decision between getting another RS or the S3, but novelty and opportunity won out. In any case, it had to be a triple.

I already on the look for a new ride, and cant decided. I did think about another RS but the ST1050 sure has a lot going for it.
No doubt find out soon enough which way i go.
