Guys I just bought a new 2003 Sprint ST demo, with bags, never been registered, with full warranty. It has 3800 KM. I'm in Canada. My question is: last year I returned to riding after 32 years, and I bought a brand new 05 Black Bonneville. In the search for more power, newer technology, and a better touring bike I now have purchased the Sprint, BUT I can't ride it for 3 months yet !!! So how will the power compare ? I know it's about double the horses, and about the same weight, so is this thing going to scare the***** out of me ? Because that's the objective thx, Bruce

It's all in the wrist!
If you don't get stupid with the throttle, the acceleration won't scare you.
Remember that it isn't the speed that hurts, it's the lack of control - especially when you fail to make a turn or cannot stop before you need to.
You're going to love the ST!

Congrats and welcome Bruce.
I don't think you'll have any problems. When I bought my '02 I found that it was probably one of the most intuitive bikes I have ever ridden since 1964.
Relax and breath :-D You'll love it.

The only thing likely to scare the ***** out of you is when you realise that you are nearly home and the ride is nearly over for the day. I stepped up from a 14 year old GPX 250 to the sprint and have never felt worried that it is too much for me. There is also no big power kick at any stage through the rev range, just smooth as silk right to the redline.
stuff it, I'm going for a ride!

Well done on the deal. From some of the comments I'm seeing, I sometimes wonder if I would have been better getting an 04 model on run out, with bags, grips and stuff thrown in for an excellent price.
As Don says, relax, breathe and enjoy. You're old enough and ugly enough to know when you're going too fast, and having some time on the Bonnie you'll be spending some time exploring new cornering prowess, let alone power.
BTW, I expect the Bonnie will collect dust. Suggest you get a cover for it. :upthumb:

Congrats on the ST. I just recently bought an '03, almost as good a deal as yours (423 miles/18 months remaining warranty). Since you've had some ride time prior, the Sprint shouldn't overwhelm you. It's got good strong, not neckbreak, acceleration. Just ramp up your ride time on a easy curve and you'll easily adapt to the extra HP. Then you'll find how much you're gonna love the spare ponies you've got in reserve :upthumb:

TxRyder: 3800 km = 2300 miles approx, and it's about 18 months warranty, so you did better I'd say. But I 'm happy with the price and mileage, can't wait to ride it !

Welcome to the fold!
I have 17k miles on my 03. You will be impressed with the power. It pulls like a freight train... I've never bottomed out the throttle myself.

G'day from Oz bforbes,
I have had my 06 ST for about a month now and am loving it after too many years off two wheels, the power is great, not scary, no big powerbands to talk of and lots of useable torque. If only it would stop raining on my days off it would be even better. These things handle like a dream compared to my old 80 bonnie, no wallowing into corners and the brakes!!!! Yahooo. I know you are going to have as good a time as I am, if it ever stops raining, whats the old song "here i am in camp grandada ". Have a pwerbronze hugger on order to keep the rear end looking good, bloody hell I wish it would stop raining. Did I mention it was raining here? Have fun and avoid the cops and gravel rash.
