i have a 2002 sprint ST has about 2600 miles on the clock. occasionally i get blue coolant dripping from the bottom of my coolant reservior. nothing big, just a few drips that drip down on the swingarm. i checked the tank and it doesn't seem to be cracked or anything. i think the coolant is just coming slowly out the cap on top, and making its way down to my swingarm. this tank doesn't seem to be vented anywhere. anybody have a similar issue? I just want to know if this is normal or if i should take it to the dealer before the warranty expires. thanks

I have an "02" as well but have never once seen any coolant dripping from anywhere on the machine. It may be nothing however, if still under warranty take it in. Never pass up an opportunity to make someone else pay. That’s my motto!

My 03 did this when I first got it. Scared the heck out of me. Like you I checked and couldn’t find anything leaking anywhere. I made sure the cap on the reservoir was on securely and the problem went away. Added some coolant (maybe ½ and ounce) a couple of months back and though I had secured the cap. I found a drip under my bike. When I checked the cap wasn’t sealed all the way round. Made sure it was fitted correctly and no more drip. If it isn’t completely locked/sealed in place all the way round it will let coolant seep/splash out.

Well,

I sometimes find a couple of drips in the front portion under the fairing. I don't know where it is coming from and only happens occasionally(maybe 3 times in 10,000 miles)

When I first got my ST, I bought it used, There was a leak in the cooling system. It took awhile to find but it was a pin hole leak in the radiator. Off to the repair shop and bingo. No more leaks. BTW, Triumph wanted 4 or 5 hundred dollars for the radiator. The repair shop was 90.

The Sprint cooling system has more clamps and hose sections than just about any bike I've owned. And the clamps aren't the best, being narrow and rather cheap looking.

I chose to upgrade to stainless, sleeve type and ordered some from McMaster Carr. I think 3 different sizes were needed.

Point is, after all this rambling, check hose clamp tighteness as part of preventative maintenance. But don't overtighten and cut/excessively pinch the hoses (which is diffucult to do with the better clamps).

I got my '01 NOS this December and when I started riding it I also noticed a coolent leak. I traced it to the hose on the left side. I tightened the clamp and it hasn't leaked since. So if you see some leakage. Check the clamps and tighten them. Of if you are ambitious, change the clamps like TxRider.

my original post was over a year ago about coolant dripping down on my swingarm from the coolant reservoir. It stopped leaking and I never thought about it again. I'm pretty sure I discovered why it was leaking. the other morning i went to the grocery store to buy some milk for my breakfast cereal. I normally dont take the bike to the grtocery store but i was getting 1 item, so i loaded the milk in my backpack. my bike doesnt normally wheelie very easily, but with that extra weight in my backpack, it really got the front end up without much effort- so i did several wheelies on the way home. when i arrived i noticed blue coolant dripping down. Thinking back, the last time it dripped coolant was the last time I did some wheelies. I guess I'll keep both wheels on the ground from now on.

I noticed some coolant leak dripping at the swingarm last weekend. Maybe it comes from the fill cap.
I haven't done wheelies that weekend :???:
