About a year ago I came across a 2001 ST that had been sitting in weather on the street for some time.

Although it would only cough, I came to terms with the owner.
Recently I decided to donate it to a bud who sold his bike to cover some unexpected family medical expenses. He's a former Tiger owner.
A California model, I've performed the prescribed cannisterectomy, installed a new battery, and replaced the seals on the red quick-disonnect fittings. I've also defeated the clutch safety switch. It still won't start and I am getting read to go over the TPS and other FI circuits.

However, while inspecting the wiring I found a 4 wire connector (blk/wht/grey/brn-red) that is part of the purge valve branch of the wiring harness, and it is not connected to anything. Looking at the wiring guide for a 2000 ST the closest I could come is the "lambda" sensor, but I'm thinking not.

I've included a picture per chance one of you may be able to identify it. I refer to the connector in the center of the picture. I would be more confident about proceeding in troubleshooting if I could determine whether or not it's supposed to be in use on this year/model, and where/how. Thanks in advance for any input/guidance. kk
