I don't believe the GT has any more of an upright riding position than the later model year ST. In any case, the Kawi will look at feel like a much larger bike because, well, it is.

Tom - We have proven once again that sound is very subjective! My 1098 Italian V-twin has a full Termignoni race exhaust and frankly, I think my Sprint triple with Tridents sound better. Go figure

The bars on the GT are quite a bit further back than the later ST. When I test drove the GT before buying, I also tried a 2007 ST. The GT is significantly more upright.

I have both the Triumph Sprint GT and Kawasaki Concours 14 (GTR1400). I posted my impressions earlier this year.

My bad, I thought I had read on here that the GT clip ons were the same as the '07+ ST clip ons.

If you go to http://cycle-ergo.com/ you can put both bikes in and use the mouse wheel to flip back and forth - it shows the difference in forward lean as 9 degrees (32 for the ST and 23 for the GT) for a 5' 10" rider. It shows 14 degrees of forward lean for the Connie 14 for comparison. So the GT falls right in the middle between the ST and C14 for forward lean.

Not to hijack this tread, but I just read an article on Kawaski's Nija 1000, equiped with factory sidebags, as sort of a SPORT-touring bike. Complete with a small adjsutable wind screen.
