OK but I think you are making a mistake!
Frankly, every time I test ride something else, Last week it was a VRod . I get off the bike the sales man asks how did I like it I go "eh". Then I get back on my sprint and get this silly grin on my face. That is how I assess A bike. If I have as big a grin on my face as the Sprint. Then I consider it. So far I still have the sprint after 8 years.

Test drive a Panigale. If that doesn't put a grin on your face, you need to see a doctor

Yep, that would put one on my face too.
A few months back, I stopped at a local dealer looking for a used tiger 1050. No luck....but he did have an '08 Multistrada 1100S with only 3k miles on it.
I wasn't real keen on the MTS's looks, but I took it for a ride anyway.....and left the dealer with a new bike.

I went straight from my learner GS500F to the Sprint after about a year of riding. I too was a bit concerned about the big jump in power but haven't found it an issue at all. I love having the power on tap but its up to me how much I choose to use. Most days my commute to work means about 20% of the power but its great to stretch the legs a bit on weekends, within reason and my level of experience of course.

I actually did that last Saturday, and felt a bit underwhelmed.
Could be because I took an MV Agusta F3 for a spin right before and fell in love, or at least lust!
Cheers,

Keep on Grinning!!
The bikes that have given me grins so far are the 675 Street Triple. And one of the Ducatis it was a replica of a 70s bike but with a modern 1000 engine. These were both "hot Date" bikes. i.e. great foir 20,40,60 miles but can I live with them day after day bad weather commuting and riding all over New England. It is not unusual for me to get into the office (30 miles) and have to go to Boston (110) miles and back hence a 300 mile day at a moments notice. On the Sprint ...no problem on most other bikes...problem.
At the end of that 300 mile day.... and then

Hey Guys, I am thinking about adding a sport tourer to my stable so I can experience a different style of riding. I own two Rockets both are baggers one is basically stock with only 150 hp. The other is well not so stock 400+ rwhp I will be staying with Triumph for sur ebut cannot make my mind up whether to go with the Sprint ST,GT or wait a bit and jump straight into a Trophy SE.
I know a few of you have owned both sprints and I would like your opinions. I am aware I will not have the Hp I do now and am not so worried about that as I will always have my 2300cc beast.
Just getting the itch to try a different riding postion and style.
Thanks for your opinions.

Oh My! A serious bit of kit!
As to your new bike dilemma - I'd recommend either of the Sprints for a change of pace. The new Trophy is going to be a similar upright riding position to the Rockets ... But if you like big torquey bikes, the new Trophy will be more in your wheelhouse ...
