Unhappy Towed home on a flat bed!

I was out doing errands and went to leave and just got a "click" when I hit the starter button, then the computer reset. Couldn't get it to even spin! I called a tow truck using my AMA membership, and he was there within an hour.
Before all this I noticed my ABS warning light was on, which I thought was strange. When I got home I put a volt meter on the battery and it read 7.5 volts!
I'm thinking my stator or voltage regulator died? I have it on a charger now and I'll see if I can start it and read the voltage.

caddy
You better read up on charging that Shorai before you try to start your bike.

I read somewhere that they did not take a charge when flat.
Also if that/or any battery is not 100% fully charged, these Triumphs and their sprag clutches don't like it too much.

Shorais do not automatically self destruct when run completely flat, at least not in my limited experience. Sure does sound like the charging system went out to me. Good luck!

Cheers,

Only caveat I am aware of regarding Shorai batteries is not to use a charger that has a de-sulphation mode.

I've had one for a year and a half and have just transferred it to a new bike.

c'daddy, sounds as though you will be checking your charge circuit performance.

I've owned 2 Shorai batteries for a couple years now and I do remember reading about the dangers of running them very low.

I also bought the fancy Shorai charger. It balances the individual cells and does some other hocus-pocus as well. Seemed like a good investment.

Personally, I just buy bikes with new batterys and sell them before they go dead. Don't have to worry about any of this crap.
