GT size of chain adjuster clamp bolt and extension adapter for ratchet wrench?

I have a 2011 Sprint GT, and have adjusted my chain by loosening the adjuster clamp bolt with a crescent wrench, a bit difficult and frustrating because of tight quarters behind the rear sprocket. So I'd like to make it easier and do this with a ratchet wrench... what's the size of the chain adjuster clamp bolt? And how long of an extension adapter do I need for my ratchet wrench to clear the rear sprocket to turn the adjuster bolt? My bike isn't home so I can't make measurements.

The bolt-head size is 17mm.
I just use a 3/8" drive ratchet and a shallow socket. But if you need an extension, somewhere between 5" and 6" max. will clear the chain guard.

As Bruce C mentioned, a shallow 17mm socket and ratchet wrench will reach the chain adjustor bolt, but will turn only 2-3 clicks at a time because the chain guard is in the way. With a 5" extender, I can turn the bolt at least 45 degrees at a time on my 2011 Sprint GT, much easier.
