I ask because I'm trying to figure out if the there would any benefit to me from the "Lower seat".

Question 2: If it is indeed lower than the gel seat, does it gave you a more upright riding position?

My instinct is that it would but I'm interested to hear others' views.

I can tell you the "low seat" is about 25mm or 1" lower than stock if that helps as I don't have a gel seat lying around to compare with.

Yes the low seat gives you a very slightly more upright riding position. But it is probably not suited to people more than 5'10" (me) as leg bend may be too much for taller people.
