I had the same problem as sportsprint the first time I adjusted my chain on my 2011 Sprint GT. I find it's easily done by pushing the spanner onto the adjuster while turning it.

I found it very hard to adjust the chain with the standard supplied adjuster and recently bought one of the after market jobbies from the USA. 1st time i use it, perfect moved easy
