Battery for 01 RS

Indeed to replace my battery. Any brand I should avoid and any that are preferred?

I've had it for at least 4 years and it's weathered a Reg/Rec (on new Daytona engine) failure plus smoke release from wires and is still going strong.
That's my experience, take from it what you like.

I'm really sick of lead/acid batteries and would buy a Shorai if it was within my budget. Alas, it's not, so I just bought one from Batteries Plus; managed to talk the guy down to Internet-level pricing as well.

Lead/acid batteries are pretty much the same within a warranty level, and the rule of thumb is that you can usually expect them to last twice the warranty period. Lithium batteries, I'm reading bad things about Ballistic every once in a while and not about Shorai, so I'd probably go for a Shorai if I went lithium.

Cheers,
-Kit

Just received a Shorai for my 1050 Sprint today. Heard the same things Kit said about the ballastic batt's and Shorai has been at this for a while so I'm thinking (hoping) they've worked out whatever issues they might have had (if any).

Well, they're recommending 21Ah PbEq now instead of 14Ah PbEq, so they've learned one thing at least!

Cheers,
-Kit

Hello, I have a Mottobatt on my Sprint ST 955i do a Google search they get good reviews. They give a very high torque on start-up had no problems with mine.
Cheers Paul

Thanks all for the input. Going out today to see what I can get locally, looking for Mottobatt. Shorai sounds interesting but with other things I have to do to the bike I think the price of the Mottobatt and decent reviews wins the day. Thanks again to all.
