I haven't seen any news of any drowned Triumphs yet.

I find it incredible that amongst all that water, so many properties can be lost to fire.

I heard an estimate tonight on the wireless, that the monetary loss could be as high as fifty billion dollars

Regardless of your politics, the USA and New York, has copped a lot in recent years.

Thank you. We were relatively unscathed here in Philly -- lost power and trees, but that's about it. Everything is open again today (Wed) as normal. It's the poor folks on New Jersey and New York who are hardest hit. And West Virginia with that freakish snow storm -- 18 inches of the stuff already.

I regret that the 18" of snow in WVa didn't fall instead here in Summit County, Colorado

I am in Northwest CT. We lost power off and on for about a day. The coast (Stratford CT) where I lived 1977 until 1986 got really hammered by the storm surge happening at high tide. New Jersey was probably the worst hit over all but lower Manhattan is still without power. Some of the subways are totally flooded. The fires are causing some of us to go hmmmm since the folks could not get flood insurance but did have fire insurance. All in all the early warnings and preparations by the vast majority of folks minimized the loss of life.

My son is in the CT Army National Guard, 850 of whom were activated to help doing whatever was needed. He was not activated because he just joined last summer and will be going to basic training next week. I am still very proud of him and his mates for all the service they and all the first responders do.

I am in seaford on the south shore of LI. Neighbors said in over 20 years are block never flooded. Well that streak is over. The storm surge pushed seawater through the storm drains. I am one house over from the drain so we got water in the garage and on the lower floor of the house. In addition our 2 cars sustained water damage, esp my accord since it sits lower to the ground. Good news is my track bike and GT survived with not much more than wet wheels. Rest of the garage will be ok. Inside of the house will be another story. laminate floor has to come out. furniture got wet and washer and dryer as well as my kegerator still waiting on the homeowners ins to get back to us. Spoke to the car ins people and someone will be comming out. The upside is we didnt loose electricity or gas

not sure what you are implying by this statement...do you think the loss of eighty to one hundred homes in a neighborhood like Breezy Point in Queens is some sort of insurance scam? I'll reserve further remarks until you clarify those rather careless statements.

That stuf fin queens was terrible, been hearing more about that as well. People lost everything. I am dealing with my own issues now anyway due to the flooding and soem wind damage. its odd, where I live most ins companies wouldnt inure us even though were not in the flood zone. I am going to be dealing with FEMA as well as wells fargo on all of this. I just want to get someone out to the house so I can start pulling stuff out and rebuilding.

Best wishes to you tommymac- we took a beating here in northern CT last year and were fortunate this go- round. My family and co- workers in metro NYC are all dealing with varying degrees of the same scenario as you and many others. Here's hoping you're able to put this behind you in a reasonable amount of time.
