I think it was around 1982 that I rode from Bathurst to Brisbane in one go and the next year I rode from Canberra to Brisbane in 14 hours. Those rides were on a 1981 Suzuki GSX 750. On both rides I used a sheep skin to relieve the pressure point and on my ride to Madison Wisconsion and back in August I used a sheep skin again. That ride was 4044 miles round trip. Two and a half days for each direction. No problem with my but, but my knees were happy to get off the bike.

Most of you guys are beyond my stamina...I have managed over 1000 kms a bunch of times, both on my ST 1050 and my Suzuki Bandit 600 prior, but really, I am much more comfortable keeping daily mileage to about 640 kms (400 miles).

I do like to go for extended trips, and try to only ride twisty, scenic routes. We usually do a trip to California each year, between 5200-5600 kms in 9 days. (from Cranbrook, BC, Canada). In 2011 we also went to the US GP at Laguna Seca. That worked out to over 6500 kms. Just a great trip...a great 5 day ride, then 3 days at the races and then just a great 4 day ride home. I want to go again in 2013, but take an extra day or two, as there are just too many good roads to ride in North California.

Sigh...too much snow in the area now...I already miss riding!
