I ordered a pair of PR3s yesterday; $303 delivered. Local Triumph dealer will mount/balance for $30 per tire if I take them off the bike, $60 each if I roll-in, roll out. I commute 500 miles/week now, so high mileage is important enough to spend a bit extra and I'm looking forward to feeling an improvement over the stock BT-20s.
I'll trust the consensus on this forum regarding the tires, although I probably wouldn't trust you folks with my whiskey or beer.

What's the best oil to shine my tires with? Considering K & N filter oil.

I no longer drink as I found it totally eliminated my input on my personal decisions that I made anyway, BUT you will love the PR3s.
The PR2s were special and these are steps ahead.

My previous highest mileage was on Avon Azaros on my "04 Sprint ST with 6,470kms so this is a new record for me.
My PR3 front still has a bit more kms in it but the rear is pretty shagged at the outer 40mm from the outside edge in.
I will still get about another 600 kms from the rear before it is totally unserviceable.
A tyre I think would also be good but not sure of the price is the Dunlop Sportsmart, also supposed to be good in the wet.
But I will stay with the PR3 as it is just so confidence inspiring all the time.

well i am on a lighter bike and i dont ride in hot climates like you do annnnnnd i dont ride as hard as you :P so far i have been putting 100 miles a day on these tires 4 days a week .. so i have had these tires for 1.5 years or so so far.. so lets do the math .. 365 days for one year minus weekends so 265 minus one more day a week 213 days solid riding minus 60 days for ice and snow..153 days x 100miles a day =15300miles .. so that was for one year im at 1.5 years .. so ill say 20,000 miles .. so far woah i have done a lot of miles

The unanswered question is>>>>
What are the softest stikiest tires money can buy that are suitable for
A Triumph St !!!
I think that beloved Aussi chewed those tires with a wire brush and a drill and then went riding.
In the climate I live, the average temp is so cold he'd have to be sliding it on a race track...that ain't normal by any standard...the streets tight enough to do that won't allow the necessary speeds. A parking lot at 85 F for a 30 minutes doing figure eights perhaps ?
The hell with money and long life..this isn't a school bus....it is a show off styling hot rod pretending to be a practical touring bike...not for me I only wanted the loow end torque kick in. For obvious reasons in Harley land..some really quick ones...
What is the BEST softest stikiest dry road tier money can buy ??????
THAT IS THE QUESTION
Want to save money ? Ride a suziky or honda 250..heck put solid tires oin it and a
way to carry the chickens and five kids...!!!What are we taking about ?
A 160 mph motorcycle on the cheapest tires a rich man can find WHY?
SCREW running bang for buck slave labor stuff from countries where nobody can afford the bike !

The answer to your question if you are serious (your tone seems to be taking the piss) about the softest stickiest tyre for the road that is legal;
possibly the Bridgestone BT 003.
These are the predecessor the BT 002 on my Sprint on the road here in our warm (except for right now) climate.
This bike never went on the track.
But in a cool climate, street legal race medium compound tyres are not recommended as they can be hard to get hot enough to work properly on the road in a cold climate.
A more sensible soft and very high performance tyre with a strong carcass better to handle the Sprint's weight, would be a Dunlop Qualifier 2.
They are an excellent handling sports tyre with excellent grip in the dry and reasonable wet grip.
They also will last a lot longer on the road than a soft street legal race tyre.
I am on my 3rd set of Q2's on my Daytona that handles street and trackdays.
All journos and tyre tests rate the Dunlop Qualifier as a top sports tyre.
These are the Qualifier 2's on my Daytona;
Does that answer the question?
cheers
Dave

No I got no vinegar in me. I opened another and thought it may have been better if I hadn't pushed the send button.
I was looking for a reaction.
I didn't really think a brush or sander was used...the photo astounded me.
Never seen anything like that, except at a track.
That's far beyond my ability.
I appreciate your response as it is exactly what I hoped for and more.
I certainly never want to piss people off.
Twas just my reaction, to get one.
Thing is I really wanted to know the best opinions about what that type of tire would be without plowing through countless posts.
I must say, reading your many contributions I'm grateful for your experience, knowledge, time and interest.
Your direct response is invaluable to me. I hoped you'd reply as you have.
Mine isn't for high miles or every day. It's a toy to dote upon.
That is what is behind all of it. If it isn't a nice day, I'm not on the road.
Thanks for the reply ! Those tire photos are scary.

Sorry mate
mdlark
I am sorry if I doubted your intentions
I wasn't really sure and it is easy to misunderstand someone on a website when you cannot see their face or body language.
Only the photo of the Daytona rear on the paddock stand above is a track photo the rest are from street riding and I have more that look like that or more so. There are a few in my album, link below in my signature line.
Anyhow, I am glad at least I answered, your question, that it made sense to you and hope you were not offended
Thank you for the compliments, but I still am learning about riding even after 37 years legal road riding and 5 or more on the dirt before that.
I think if you stop learning and trying to improve yourself you should give it up
Here is another one to part with a Michelin Pilot race medium ( no longer made) after a good brisk road ride on my previous '04 Sprint ST:
