Extra Motorcycle: V Strom 650 (SOLD!)
My new GT

I have been on this forum for a while, but only picked up my 2011 Sprint GT last Friday. Coming off a V Strom 650 it is quite the change! I put 1500 km on in 4 days (plus the initial service at 1000 Kms). Lots of tight twisties, long high speed highways, city riding. Coming off bikes with a more upright seating position, I find the GT much more comfortable on my damaged back. A bit more of a handful in low speed (parking lot) situations but just need to re-calibrate my riding style. The stock windscreen was scratched when the dealer was doing his prep, so they installed the taller touring version for free (I was thinking of going there anyway). Need to add heated grips and a horn that can be heard (I have put Fiamm Freeway Blasters on all my other bikes), and install my Givi V 46 topcase from the V Strom on this bike. Power is great, brakes are good (someone said they were "wooden", but I guess it depends on what you compare them to).

Glad to be a member of the Sprint family finally. I will post pictures once I figure out how!

Glad to hear you are enjoying the GT it certainly is comfy and I love the brakes, rock solid and the ABS has saved my bacon twice in a year.

Cheers

Congrats on the new ride Yak. They are quite a bike. I went the exact opposite way you did and am still enjoying the Strom.

They would never believe what you said about the riding position on a V-Strom forum though. Coming from a Sprint and going to the "lovely" stock seat on the Strom, I already knew it was true.

Welcome Yak! I really enjoy my Sprint GT. I could enjoy it more if the overtime at work would cease!

Regardless of what others say here on the forum, the "blue one" is faster!

When will the blues and silvers bow down to the speed of the phantom black?

Well, mine is silver and is plenty fast. It was an early retirement present to myself but now the next 18 months until I am done work is going to be tough - I keep looking out the window at "The Hawk" sitting in the parking lot, waiting to be ridden.

Much Welcome to the club. I also came from a DL650 to the sprint just a few weeks ago!
