Grand Touring screen for the GT
At Last, after Getting on for a year of ownership of my 2011 Sprint GT I have just received and fitted a proper touring screen. It is made by Eagle Screens in Australia and although I am not connected in any way with them, they have really listened, been really helpful and produced an excellent quality screen. I think its worth mentioning that after asking other manufactures over a period of months, Eagle screens are the only ones to have done something.
I have been out and had fun road testing the new screen. It is the Grand touring version of the screens that Eagle make for the GT. The weather conditions were less than ideal but it was an excuse to get out and go for a blast. I did the test twice because I use the comfort gel seat and I know many are happy with the stock seat. I have both and as I have found a slight height difference between them, the gel seat being a bit lower, I wanted to see if it made any difference. As it turned out I don’t think there was any difference, certainly not that I noticed. Some normal roads were used and some motorway, the total mileage being about 150. So here we go.
Bike. Triumph Sprint GT 2011 with comfort gel seat and Genmar bar risers.
Clothing. Triumph Textile jacket and trousers (got them with the bike).
Helmet. Givi Xmodular flip front. This is not the quietest helmet I have owned, but it is comfortable.
My height. 5’ 8’’ approx. weight, don’t ask!!.
0-50mph no windblast at all on my chest or helmet. I was able to ride with visor up. Slight windblast on my arms and the outside of my shoulders. Some helmet noise.
50-70mph still no windblast on my chest or helmet. Windblast on my arms and outside of shoulders. Helmet noisy but still able to raise the visor and my eyes didn’t water.
70mph+. Er well. The UK speed limit is 70mph on motorways. See above and my eyes did water.
The windblast on my arms and shoulders didn’t worry me at all as it kept weight off my wrists.
So there we go. The screen works and for me has transformed the bike. Long distance touring will now be a lot more comfortable.
Cheers.
Rich.

Looks good. Not what I like, but if that's what you're after, good for you. Happy riding

Personally, I don't see how you guys even breathe with those tall screens in the summer months.

+ 1 for Eagle Screens. I have had two screens for my bikes from them and am happy. They are just up the road from me. I'm thinking of updating to a GT at some stage and will certainly head for Eagle's again.

Looks good RickS.
I too will be looking for a better long distance windscreen. The two on my short list will be Eagle Screens and Zero Gravity. ZG's screen is soon to be released!
I like how the stock windscreen air is very laminar and hits my chest and helmet.
But here in the Midwest USA, the bug to air ratio can get quite overwhelming in certain riding months due to the heat, humidity and farmland. A larger type of windscreen helps with the bug problem that the stock one cannot possibly do.
