Oh Boy! This isn't good; it's cold and it snowed yesterday evening. Down wet the salt and ended my riding for the winter. Even if it warms up again the salt is so thick and dusty it will end up in everything. What to do until riding season starts again? May look for thing to add to the bike or make some minor modifications so I can have all the electric gadgetry available. Winter here in Wisconsin can be soooo long. Will keep an eye on the posts though. keep the good stuff coming.

I ride anyway. Screw the salt. If it's above freezing and the roads are clear (not necessarily clean), I'll ride for a few hours and give the bike a quick bath when I get back. It feels SO good to get out for a ride on a warm (40-something) afternoon in the middle of winter with the countryside covered in snow.

We don't have to worry about salt here which makes it nice. Here they use volcanic rubble ground up. It doesn't melt but tires seem to stick ok but you tend to get sand blasted after it dries off..

BRRRRRRRRR....86 degrees here in frosty so-cal today. Tomorrow might see 90. I don't know what I would do if I had to sit on my bike in the garage for a couple of months and go vroom vroom.

I feel for you guys. As a tribute, I'll put on my heavy Frank Thomas winter jacket and sweat off a few pounds on my 250 mile ride over to the coast and back. Heck, maybe I'll even take a dip in the ocean just to imagine a little chill in my bones.

Sorry that I can't empathize too much. Us left coasters take a lot of "heat" through out the year. Time to heap the "hot coals" back on....

I feel sorry for you blokes in such chilly climes.

I love the climate here it's just great. Well spend all your garaged time doing all those maintenance jobs.

Cheers,
Dave from "the sunshine state" :-D

Weatherbug says it's 27*F here in the piedmont of NC, 7:28 am. Awful cold to me, and I don't want to stop riding. If it'll stay in the 50's for most of the time I'll ride. Not at 27 though!

Cold is a relative term, isn't it? Unless its below 40f, I plug in the electrics & go...... I found this link to help pass the time on a snowy day:

Just decided to stop riding mine for the year after skating home last night on a thick blanket of frost. Good thing cause the liquid de-icer was laid down today. Guess I'll have to polish the bike up for a bit, and get my sled dirty for the time being.....Wahoo!!! :-D

Hey Blue-Sea,

We moved from Madison a year and a half ago, so the memories of parking the bike for the winter are still pretty fresh.

Can't ride as much in the winter here in Raleigh as I thought I would though. It was 26 degrees when I went to work. Too cold, even for a former Sconie!
