interesting, I'll definitely admit, I'm not an aggressive rider. I'm still learning the ins and outs of the bike and I'm slowly working on my leans. so maybe that tire wouldn't be so bad until I'm ready to take my riding up to the next level?
You've only got a few square inches of rubber meeting the road. Why scrimp on such a critical part of your bike's performance? You might not be leaning the bike way over, bu that extra traction also helps when braking as well as sticking better under less than ideal traction circumstances. Michelin Pilot Roads, Avon Azaro (45/46), Metzeler Z6, Pirelli Diablo Strada are all fine tires that won't let you down.

In the meantime, if you are just looking to save some money, I'll give you my BT57s that only have 37k on them. I'm putting Z6s on this week. The tire show little wear, but I hate them too much to keep them on. I bought this bike to out handle my wing. With these sorry tires, I ride the wing faster and with more confidence than the Sprint. That's pitiful!! Triumph should be ashamed of themselves for shipping a sport touring bike with these tires on it. I can't wait to see how this bike handles with real tires on it!

Oops! I meant 3,700 miles. Not 37,000 miles. Anyway, email me if you want these things. Otherwise, I'm throwing them away.

Red face In defense of Tomahawk

Unintentional bump, as I just searched for 'tomahawk'.

I'm on my second set of Tomahawks. Well, the first-and-a-half'th set. My rear is wearing great, and no need to replace it. The front needed it as it was cupping (I know why, it's my own fault).

Anyway, these Tomahawk tires do me real well. I've been very happy with their performance, but I'm not a track rider. I'm sure if I was, I'd be happier to go with Avons or Metzlers, or something else. But who knows? My front lasted me around 9000 miles, and the rear is a little over 50% worn. I expect I'll get around 15k miles, but it'll probably get replaced before that.

Yes, the tires are 'retreads' but are re-manufactured by Desser Tire & Rubber. I figure a company who retreads for 747's can do my bike just fine. Grip is sufficient for my riding. I really don't know what else to say except I like them. The suit me just fine (and the price is reasonable as a bonus).

Hi P.Den

I think if you value your life at $100 per set, then youv'e got nothing to lose.

if you cant afford better tires put the bike away untill you can.

probaly the most important part of your bike is your choise of tire for when you accidently take it up to the "next level"

Regards
