Did anybody see American Chopper last night??

Well, they visited Hinckley and apart from liking the bikes, got the loan of 4 new ones!! Which they proceeded to hoon around on in the usual attire.

The red Sprint ST drew my attention. Very, very nice colour - it runs the blue very close.

Sigh. Posers with blow torches. Don't tell me. They built a "Tribute to Triumph" chopper using a v-twin and gorilla bars. :hammer:

Discovery used to be a good channel to watch. They need to bring back Wings.

I 2nd that motion!!

I once thought that Paul Jr. was the smartest of the bunch. But watching him drill a hole into the sidewall of a rear tire not once but 3 times while trying to pick up the locating holes for a fender support, sure changed my mind.

This program is argument for the idea of TV is dumbing down the masses. Most surprisingly are the numbers that watch it. I gave up on it a long time ago, but would have like to seen the Hinkley visit.

A Triumph tribute with a V twin??? Gimme a break!!! But then again, how many of the viewers would even know????

I'm not sure that would happen. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Paul Sr. would actually like to do a bike based on the Rocket 3. He definitely was up for using the Rocket 3 motor.

The only problem with the idea is this time they would ACTUALLY have to try and DESIGN a bike rather than buying an off the shelf frame, stick in an off the shelf motor, get some other shop to design the wheels for them and also have another shop CNC them a carb out of a solid block of aluminum then they put on basically the same fenders and seats they have on every bike they have ever done! Granted, there isn't much you can do with a fender and seat that someone hasn't already done. Then to top it off they get another kid to paint their stuff for them....and he makes them look like a bunch of high school students compared to his work. Oh yes, they did bolt on some wrenches or some other do-dads to make it a $100k THEME BIKE!

Would I like to be doing what they are doing for a living (never mind how much $ they make doing it) YOU BET YOUR SWEET ASS I WOULD!

If it's any consolation their clothing line seems to have tanked. There stuff is all over the NET at 'Closeout' prices. Much of it is less than 50% of the listed price.
:-)

Sorry - posted the first after a loooong day at work - feeling kinda surly. It just bugs me that there's no intelligent biker shows on normal TV. Like a real BUILD show that does choppers AND sportbikes.

And sure, who wouldn't want to get paid to customize/build bikes?! :-D

Guess I just wish they'd leave the drama to "reality" shows.

Getting off my :asb: now.

Night all... :-g

Probably IMHO the last intelligent bike builder, a true builder was Indian Larry RIP. Yes, I know he died stupidly, but that's besides the point.
Who else would build a motor, one jug pan and the other knuckle?
Wire wheels and lace them up himself? And help everyone else get their bike running for judging.

Rocket 3, extended 6" raked flat with maybe even a modern springer. Drag bars, fat boy and bobbed. Solo seat with maybe a pillion pad.
Suicide clutch and jockey shift :wow:

Just my thoughts,
Don

Make it so and make yourself famous! The weather's been co-operating in our region for a project just like that!

One of our local RATs welded up a frame to mount his pocket bike on the back of his Rocket III. You should see the looks THAT gets :-D :-D :-D .

Wings, weapons of war, etc. Still exist. There is another discovery channel that used to be called the Discovery Wings channel but is now called the Military channel.

Basically like Discovery Wings, but with a few tanks and SEALs mixed in. Hehe.

I pay an extra 10 bucks a month or something to get the extended list of channels, and I did it almost exclusively for the Military channel and Speed channel -_-
