Ok, I've already had the output shaft seal leak and then the leaking through the Sproket Cover bolts taken care of under warranty but now I'm out of warranty and I have oil coming out from the same area again.

I removed the Sproket Cover and there is a 6mm hex head cap bolt in the 7:00 position that is tight but has oil seaping thru and running out of the sprocket cover.

I looked at every page in the factory service manual and it shows up in one picture in the transmission section for the shifter but is never addressed that I could find. No torque specs, no explaination unless I just missed it because it seems that it would have to be in there unless the Techs have additional manuals.

I would assume others have had this leak since that whole area seems to be a common problem. Can anyone tell me what this is or where they discuss it in the manual? Can it be removed and coated like the sproket cover bolts or is there an o-ring behind it that can be changed out? Anyone know the torque spec?

Appreciate the help, I'll just keep parking next to the Harleys until I get this fixed so no one will notice my ST marking its territory.

I've never had a leaking problem but on your's, you might check back with your dealer. They fixed it once and if that is still at fault, it should still be covered depending on the time frame.

A good dealer would stand behind their work. No harm to badger them a bit.

NR,

I think there's been a comment or two on this plug in past threads on oil leakage. For the vast majority of bikes, the plug doesn't leak. For those that do, I believe the recommendation was pull the plug, put sealant on it , and reinstall. I don't recall if there's oil behind it (is it higher than the oil level via the dipstick?).

Good luck.

Yeah I searched for leak links but did not find anything that covered that bolt just the shaft seal and the cover bolts.

I have called my dealer but they must still be closed from the Hurricane last week (much of Palm Beach is still without power) so I hoped someone had some experience with it.

I was just making a joke about HD but many 955's seem to have had leaking problems in this area (in all models.)

You've got to remember that Triumph invented the oil leak a year before HD. :-D
