If you can't fix it with duct tape is isn't worth fixing?

I guess it would not be too hard to set up a switch in such a way that at a certain tilt or inclination the switch activates. Thoughts?

http://beta.globalspec.com/learnmore.../tilt_switches has good info.
I think you may be overthinking this.

I wonder if two fog-type lights would fit in that access panel behind the windscreen. The windscreen would have to be notched, but it could be a cool instillation.
I had a serious look at this last time I had my bike stripped. Its do-able as there is enough space. You could mount a large single, rectangular light or two smaller ones in a housing. Fabricating of brackets would be required. Butchering of the screen and cockpit plastics is also a requirement. If I was going to do it I would buy these items from fleabay so you could put the originals back if it all went wrong.

The other option is to buy a second hand headlight unit and install the illuminators of your choice in that and swap it over when you're happy.

Every time I look at this I always conclude there is no easy or simple solution and it would be very easy to end up with a dogs breakfast.

I just bought a pair of 10w LED lights with 900 lumens each with wire harness for $130 shipped. I need to figure out where to put them.
I think a bar light with 2 10w will fit nicely cutting the screen.
I got the lights from a vendor at SEMA
