I had a serious look at this last time I had my bike stripped. Its do-able as there is enough space. You could mount a large single, rectangular light or two smaller ones in a housing. Fabricating of brackets would be required. Butchering of the screen and cockpit plastics is also a requirement. If I was going to do it I would buy these items from fleabay so you could put the originals back if it all went wrong.
The other option is to buy a second hand headlight unit and install the illuminators of your choice in that and swap it over when you're happy.
Every time I look at this I always conclude there is no easy or simple solution and it would be very easy to end up with a dogs breakfast.
