When I picked up my bike a couple of weeks ago, I ordered several add-ons. Heated grips, tank bag, tank pad, and paniers. I was told the newly designed bags wouldn't be here until the first quarter next year.
My bike is in for the 500 mile service and the dealer called to let me know all the add-ons were in, including the new bags.

Because I haven't experienced the problems with the old bags, what should I be looking for to make sure the corrections were made. Other than the obvious, leaks! Or was that the only issue? I thought someone wrote here that it was difficult to get them on and off too.

I'll be picking the bike up Tuesday, delayed because the heated grips were last years model and didn't fit the bike. But I'll let you know how the new bags are then. There seems to be quite and interest here about them.

My dealer said that the replacement bags wouldn't be here until probably March. There may be a time difference in getting new bags, and getting replacement bags. I would love to see some pictures of your bags, just to see what differences there may be.
TIA,
Dave

Same info from my dealer, replacement panniers will be available early '06. When you pick up your bike, I would love to see pics of bags from all angles and also other accessories/mods.

Cheers,

Colin

I'll be happy to post pictures if I could figure out how! Can I start an album page here at this site and post images there?

My dealer said the part number for the bags he received for my bike is the new replacement number, not the old number. If that translates into the new bags, great. If it's just a wrong number, I'll be upset.

So that brings me back to my original question. What should I look for to tell if these bags are in fact, good replacement bags, or if they are the old ones with a different part number? I would think my dealer should know. Whether he tells me is another issue.

I'll keep you guys posted.

I think you might want to read the latest issue of Cycle World (nov. 2005)

They RIPPED the new triumph bags.

If I may paraphrase:
"...saddlebags are a tragic joke.......don't work worth a *****.......latching systems are dreadful.......I would track down the person responsible, throttle him, and throw the bags in a fire."

I think they didn't like them. :flam:

Appearing in the 11/05 issue, they would be talking about the "old" new bags.

No one has seen the "new" new bags.

Let's hope the cranio-rectalitis was cured before they designed the new ones!
