More newbie-style questions, thanks for your patience --
For chain maintenance, etc., I'd like to be able to get the rear wheel on my RS off the ground. I also installed the rear hugger not long ago with the bike on its sidestand and had to say all the words  before it was done.
So anyway, I'm trying to decide whether to get a paddock stand or a center stand:
1) The paddock stand it cheaper but lifts the rear wheel at its axle, so there is still compression load on the rear suspension right? Point being, you can spin the wheel but the chain is still under suspension tension and not actually under the right conditions to adjust its tension. Is this correct?
2) The center stand is more expensive and more "permanent". It also allows the rear wheel to hang off the relaxed rear suspension, right? You still have free spin on the rear wheel, but no compression on the suspension, which is what you're supposed to have to adjust chain tension right?
3) If 1) and 2) are both correct, why would anyone get a paddock stand unless possibly for stability? In a recent thread about dropping your bike, a lot of folks attributed drops to instability on the center stand. Is there a significant risk, or is that really only for mounting and dismounting?
4) There's no reason not to mount a centerstand on a SSSA bike is there? I think STs come with center stands don't they?
