Have done 5500 k's . Since I had the bike it has sometimes missed top gear. I change from 5th to 6th it clunks into place I let out the clutch and then I can hear the gears grinding, after that I am freewheeling??? Change up again and into 6th.
anyone else with this problem, trumpy dealer told me the gears need to mesh together ???This only happens when I'm going hard. Since May it has only happened about a dozen times. Any suggestions??

I have noticed that proper shifting on My '05 Sprint is very sensitive to proper chain adjustment. As the chain becomes loose shifting eases deteriorates rapidly.

Dat, try doing clutchless change ups.... gearbox is superb when clutchless. very precise and far smoother.

also agree with the chain adjustment and most importantly decent lube.... build up of chainwax caused a similar shifting problem on my last bike.

no damage as long as you downt downshift !

best done from 3-4th and up wards.... just remeber to quickly shut off the gas as you go....
Same effect as using a Q-shifter but you need to use your feet instead of yer thumb !

Instead, try adjusting your shifter a little lower, maybe a 1/4 inch. This will give you a more positive shift throughout the range.

Also, preload your shifter.

I really wouldn't do the clutchless shifts. These aren't like an old crash box Muncie and you may damage the shifting forks.
I know several do it but I also know some that have had troubles.

Personally, Mine was the same way and after adjustment I haven't had a problem in almost 3 years.

I have the same problem.

Adjusted the clutch and shifter. It happens less frequently but it still happens. DON'T DOWN SHIFT, it can be very scary.
