I was checking out some high end motorcycle tour company in western canada that exclusively uses triumphs for it's tours.

Anyhow, somewhere it was mentioned that they clean everyone's visors with lemon pledge. I'd been using plexus for many years and thought I would try LP.

Anyhow, as far as I can tell the LP is every bit as good as plexus, and is way cheaper. You can probably find some underneath your sink, or wherever the person who does the cleaning in your household stores this kind of thing.

I got a huge can of it at wally world and keep it in my garage along with some retired (clean) 100% cotton ginch. This combination makes an excellent poor-man's visor cleaner. I also spray it all over the front of my Sprint to get the bugs off (paint and windsceen). I checked this out on a car detailing site, and the consensus is that LP won't damage paint/plastice.

From my own experience, my paint/windscreen looks great after about 5 months of doing this routinely. (As a side-note, turtle wax makes an aerosol bug and tar remover that comes out like LP, but doesn't seem to work as well on the visor or the paint).

Thought some of you might benefit from this tip! Of course, I imagine other "flavors" of pledge would work as well...but the Lemon smells suspisciously like plexus....

Thanks for the tip Jim. I didn't realize lemon pledge was so versitile. According to the fellow who made my leathers it can also be used to clean them. He's been making leathers since the early 70's and has a great reputation so I trust his comment!

Well, I stopped in at the Farquier Service and Mushroom Addition Restaraunt in Needles, BC, and the pump jockey was courtesy wiping biker's screens with Pledge. He claimed it doesn't etch plastics like ammonia based cleaners (i.e. Windex) and actually fills microscratches as you apply it.

I haven't tried it personally, but just bought a new Givi touring screen for the Sprint and new helmet faceshield. At $2.99 a bottle, I'll give it a whack.

Regards,

I've used it for 5 years now and have had no problems at all. I also use the Honda Spray Cleaner/Polish.

Interestingly enough, I use the honda spray polish as well, but it sure does seem to have the same consistancy of pledge with out the lemon smell. I hadn't noticed a huge price diffrence between the.

Pledge has kept my bike screens ( and boat, even the plastic side-curtains exposed to salt) perfect. The boat is going on 18 years old. Nothing better than Lemon Pledge!
