For an '03, or any model year, what are your thoughts on the Corbin (gunfighter?) compared to the Triumph Gel Seat? I would think the one major difference is not being able to hang off the bike with the Corbin in aggressive corners.

Are either of these seats a suitable stock replacement for everyday riding?

Can't talk about the Corbin, but I have the Gel seat. While it is WAY better than the stock seat, it isn't great. Living down here on the RedNeck Riviera, one must be careful to keep the seat covered when parking in the sun. The gel absorbs a terrific amount of heat, and it takes forever to cool.

Since you're facing a non-riding time of year, you might consider sending your seat to Sargent (www.sargentcycle.com) or Keith's etc., for a custom job. The basic job at Sargent would cost the same or less than either the Gel or the Corbin.

Sargent...that's an excellent idea which I hadn't considered. I'll look into that, too.

I just looked at their site; their "Stock" seat for the ST, with either black or silver piping, on a new pan is $369.

Sending your seat would probably be cheaper.

I just picked up a Corbin for my '01. Nice and firm, great even support all across the seat width and it dosent pinch your legs. Also great for long distances, and hanging off if necessary isnt a problem.

I just put a Sargent on my 03 and it is a wonderful saddle. The seat pan has built in storage and folding hooks for bungee cords or tie downs. Very nice piece of work. My only complaint? and I'm not sure it is one yet, is that the seat height increased a smidgen. I was really hoping for a lower seat height. I guess time will tell. I might even ask them if lowering is an option. One thing that is a major plus is that I am no longer sliding into the tank. That was tough on the jewels. The Sargent is flat and firm. Also very nice looking.

The Corbin is a pos, Gel way to HOT in summer and even warms up from motor. Sargent or Bill Mayer seats. Bill Mayer is custom, expensive but worth every penny. used by a lot of iron butt guys.

I have a gel seat I find it excellent. They do heat up though if you leave your bike parked in the sun if you live in a hot climate.

Pictures in my album clicky below.

I just install my Corbin on my 04 RS and hanging off is no problem great even support I notice right when I got on. The only problem my wife notice she has to bend her back a little more when we ride together. It looks like a new backrest is the next purchase from Corbin. The sit is a little slippery.

I have owned both corbin and sargent and, in my opinion, sargent is superior product. The corbin I have is heavy and cheaply made. I can't even get a local place to recover it.
