Well today was nice and sunny so i thought i would go out for the day on the ST, i did a full tank of fuel on sunday and remembered the fuel light had come on on route home on sunday.
So i went to my local petrol station to be told..' sorry only got diesel'.... went to another nearby and was told' sorry got nothing left'.........
I then realised i had only a few miles in the tanks and got a little worried.. i then calculated if i went the next one to be told 'sorry' i wouldnt have enough to get home so i gave up and went home, put a fuel can in the car and drove to my supermarket petrol station, the logic being i buy a gallon for the bikeand get out of town and fill up...
Then i saw the rediculous queue at tesco and thought 'sod it'.

Why are people panick buying, there aint no fuel strike just press making people worry...... and its working too.

So i watched TV all day instead... and its gonna rain tomorrow :hammer:

It's gone on over here too. I've seen pickups full of gas cans, antifreeze jugs, anything that would hold fuel at gas stations.

Wierd, nothing like that is happening over here. Gas prices actually droped about .10-.15 cents a gallon too...

What gets me is that the folk panic-buying (and complaining about the crazy fuel taxes in the UK for example) are playing into the Govt's hands by filling up with fuel 'just for the sake of it'. The Treasury, as a result, are now rubbing their hands together.

I got fuel today with no real problem - although did see a few stations with queues or 'no fuel' signs up.

Nice thing is that the RS is costing me less to run in fuel than my TT600 was 6 months ago (when fuel was 10% or more cheaper). These triples are certainly efficient!

For those in the USA in the Uk the average price is $1.75 per litre ! 47% of it is tax.

Even though I just paid 3.19 for 89 octane for the ST, I realize that European nations have it much worse than us yanks. But you guys "over there" typically have much smaller cars. My GMC truck gets 8 miles per gallon.
Funny that I have been riding the bike more....
I thought it was because of the fine weather we have been having (translation: under 100 F).

Panic buying, price gouging - all things we seem to have to get accustomed to nowadays.

People are panic buying not because of the price, but because of the threat of another fuel blockade like the one in 2000, where a lot of peole got caught out and suffered.

i'll risk the ire of the forum readers by saying tax on fuels should NOT come down. We've all been using way too much of a finite resource for too long.
The 32 year old nit-wit son of a woman I work with has just bought his new Land Cruiser to tow his boat and/or Ski-doo, so now he's gas guzzling whatever he's doing.
The only way to educate a goose like this guy seems to me by making fuel prices so high as to be prohibitive.
Their whole family is characterised by unwise life-style choices so it's a forlorn hope......

There are plenty of 4WD & V8's over here in Perth - WA.
It's a very car oriented city but things are beginning to bite with talk of higher inflation figures, economic downturn etc!
Petrol is now $AU1.30 a litre (55 UK Pence),
I just put $AU5.00 (2.00GBP) in my wife's 50cc Scooter to fill it up to full, with the usual "I wish my car was that cheap to run mate" comments & me moaning that it's usually $4 to fill it up & i'd been ripped off! LOL

Pominoz

Ps - My new ST now arrives in Perth next week..hubba hubba! Fingers x'ed
